Java Developer
I’m a Java developer with roughly a decade of backend experience. Before that, I spent five years as a systems administrator — so I understand production infrastructure, not just application code.
I work on enterprise services, with hands-on experience in OTT / streaming and media platforms — high-traffic APIs, integrations, and reliable releases.
Background
- Career path: five years in systems administration (servers, operations, keeping services running), then a move into Java development where I design and ship backend software full time.
- That ops background led to building Network MACMonitor — network inventory and cable-management software born from real sysadmin problems (see Projects below).
- Design and implement Java backend services (REST APIs, service integrations, data access).
- Work across the full delivery cycle: requirements, implementation, code review, production support — with a practical ops mindset from the sysadmin years.
- Care about maintainable code, predictable releases, and systems that behave the same in test and production.
What I work on
- Java ecosystem: typical enterprise stack (e.g. Spring-style services, JDBC, messaging where needed).
- Infrastructure awareness (from sysadmin background): Linux, deployment, monitoring, and how backends run in real environments.
- Integration and quality: integration tests, CI pipelines, Docker — including practical speed-ups for Testcontainers in real pipelines.
- OTT / streaming context: backends that support content delivery, partner integrations, and operational scale.
Projects & writing
Network MACMonitor — my own product for automated network inventory and operations: SNMP-based collection of IP/MAC addresses from switches and routers, port mapping, cable journal (patch panels, outlets, racks), device and user tracking, availability logs, and network maps. It bridges my sysadmin roots with software I ship.
preinit-testcontainers — open-source library that cuts integration-test startup time by baking database initialization into local Docker images (Testcontainers + tmpfs).
Blog — I write on this site about Java, testing, Docker, and performance — see the Blog or the featured article.
